In Development

NKD Films is currently seeking a partner to finance the development of a feature adaptation of Lionel Bart's 1962 West End musical Blitz! to be written by Nick Cassenbaum (Bubble Schmeisis, The Schvitz).

Blitz! is based loosely on Bart's wartime experiences as a child and follows matriarch Mrs Blitzstein, an Eastern European Jewish immigrant who can't help but tell the whole neighbourhood about her dislike for fellow market trader, the racist Alfie Locke, the disappointment she has in her children, Harry, a draft dodger and Carol who has fallen in love with Alfie's son Georgie.

Filled with charming and catchy songs, this musical couldn't feel more timely with it's themes of immigration and nationalism (As Long As This is England), female empowerment (Leave it to the Ladies) and the timeless exploration of forbidden love (I Wanna Whisper Something), family (Bake A Cake) and community (Down the Lane).
